Our Three Trees Corner offers mind-soul and body activities during your stay.
With Simplicity and Authenticity as our guiding mission we keep our classes and instruction small and simple to understand. We maintain our studio elegant and plain surrounded by trees and close to the serene beach. Our classes are taught by highly trained experienced instructors who teach in a caring way with you the student always in mind.
We support traditional yoga and not modern yoga. To the ancients, Yoga is a complete system, of which the postures are a small, though quite useful part. The word Yoga referred to the whole, not merely one part, which is the postures, or Asanas. The entire purpose of Yoga is spiritual in nature, according to the ancient ages. The goal or destination of Yoga is Yoga itself, union itself, of the little self and the True Self, a process of awakening to the preexisting union that is called Yoga. The mere fact that one might do a few stretches with the physical body does not in itself mean that one is headed towards that high union referred to as Yoga. Yoga is not a physical system with a spiritual component; it is a spiritual system with a physical component.
Valerie has been living on Crete for almost 20 years. She fell in love with that small continent at the time she was still an archaeologist, but came to settle here more for the beauty of the nature and the energy of the island. She spent the last 15 years leading groups and individuals on walks and treks around the island and more generally on Greece. She combined so doing her passion for discovery, history and nature with the pleasure of sharing that passion to the people visiting the island. Her path into yoga started a bit more than 10 years ago, as something logical by living in such a natural and energetic environment, as something that brings her even deeper into that feeling of fullness and serenity that the natural environment allows. Today, beside yoga and walk retreats she organizes for groups, she leads private yoga courses and private walks, to get more connected with everyone's individuality, needs and wishes. Her courses are based on Hatha yoga.
TYPES OF YOGA OFFERED
Kundalini Yoga (Sanskrit kundalini-yoga), also known as laya yoga, is a school of yoga that is influenced by Shaktism and Tantra. Called by practitioners the yoga of awareness, it aims "to cultivate the creative spiritual potential of a human to uphold values, speak truth, and focus on the compassion and consciousness needed to serve and heal.
Jnana Yoga is the yoga of knowledge – not knowledge in the intellectual sense - but the knowledge of Brahman and Atman and the realization of their unity. Where the devotee of God follows the promptings of the heart, the jnani uses the powers of the mind to discriminate between the real and the unreal, the permanent and the transitory.
Tantra Yoga means you are able to use your energies to make things happen. If you can make your mind razor sharp to cut through everything, this is also one kind of tantra. The simple principle of tantra yoga is: whatever can take you down can also take you up.
Hatha Yoga (Sanskrit hatha yoga), also called Hatha vidya, is a branch of yoga. The word hatha (lit. force) denotes a system of physical techniques supplementary to a broad conception of yoga. The word hatha can be translated two ways: as willful or forceful, or the yoga of activity and as sun (ha) and moon (tha), the yoga of balance. Hatha practices are designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit in preparation for meditation.
Sun Yoga is a form of yoga that leads you towards self-realization through your physical body. Our signature flow is built on the meditative flow of the breath and components of Hatha yoga, mantra, relaxation and meditation. With Sun Yoga, wherever you are in your practice, you will experience a connection between you and the flow of Nature.
